Southern Grampians Shire Council is aware of long‑standing community concerns regarding safety at the intersection of Rippon Road and Ballarat Road.

These concerns have been raised consistently over many years, and Council shares the community’s desire to see improvements made as a priority.

At the June 2026 meeting, Cr Henry raised a motion to; develop a community communication plan to gain data and stories around the use and safety of the intersection of Ballarat Rd and Rippon Rd to be used to lobby the Department of Transport for urgent development of the intersection.

While this intersection is located on a state‑managed road, under the responsibility of the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), Council recognises the importance of advocating to the State Government for these upgrades.

What we need from you our community members are stories and reports of incidents to capture a clear picture of the safety issues at this location. Tell us your stories of near misses, actual hits, or safety issues you have seen between pedestrians and traffic at this location.
